Role Overview
The Hospitality Manager provides leadership and hands-on support in creating welcoming, clean, comfortable, and harmonious spaces for guests, volunteers, and staff.
The role is approached in the spirit of karma yoga, bringing awareness, care, presence, and respect to the work and to interactions with others. The Hospitality Manager works collaboratively with volunteers, staff and other departments to support the smooth functioning of the Ashram.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and co-ordinating volunteers
- Plan and prioritize daily, weekly and seasonal tasks, adapting to changing needs and available resources.
- Organize and provide leadership, direction, and training for Hospitality volunteers.
- Oversee and participate in the cleaning, care, and preparation of rooms and spaces.
- Assign tasks with consideration for safety, experience, and individual abilities.
Working collaboratively with other areas
- Attend weekly Area Managers’ meetings and communicate Hospitality needs, priorities, and concerns.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with guests, volunteers, staff, and Ashram managers.
- Coordinate with the maintenance and pest control teams to support the care and upkeep of healthy, well-functioning living spaces.
Inventory, purchasing and budgeting
- Maintain Hospitality inventory and ensure supplies are adequately stocked.
- Research and purchase quality, health-conscious products at affordable prices, in accordance with Ashram purchasing guidelines.
- Create and monitor the annual Hospitality budget and support long-term resource planning with senior members.
Maintenance and other projects
- Ensure Hospitality equipment and appliances are properly cared for and maintained.
- Prepare Hospitality spaces for special events, including dinners and other gatherings.
- Organize spaces and move furniture as needed.
- Facilitate special projects such as sewing, sign-making, including Canva projects, and other creative or practical initiatives.

- Communicate clearly and work well with a diverse group of people.
- Demonstrate flexibility, steadiness, and good judgment in changing or challenging circumstances.
- Be organized, practical, resourceful, and comfortable taking initiative.
- Be comfortable with or appropriately delegate hands-on physical work, including cleaning, organizing, lifting, and moving furniture.
- Have ease with computers and software relevant to the role.
- Have a valid driver’s licence to drive ashram vehicles
