The Ashram has made the difficult decision to remain closed through 2020. We plan to re-open for the Yoga Development Course in January 2021. Please note that the grounds and buildings, including the Temple of Light, are now closed to public access. As a residential community with an elder population, we are taking extra safety precautions while the virus is still active.

Journey Into The Bharata Natyam Dance Tradition

$100.00 Deposit

Aug 21 – 27

Join artistic director Anusha Fernando of Shakti Dance Vancouver who will be leading an intensive journey into the traditional dance form of Bharata Natyam. This beloved classical form of dance from Southern India is characterized by humility, discipline, grace and rigorous technique. Over the course of the retreat we will juxtapose stilless with movement and explore energy, expression and devotion.

In the Eastern Teachings the body is seen as a spiritual tool, a way to be in touch with devotional feelings of the heart. It gives a way to express these through a beautiful ancient language of dance and storytelling.

Due to the intensive nature of this course, it will be open only to those with Bharata Natyam experience or anyone with Indian dance background.

There will be an open workshop on Saturday, August 22nd for dancers of all abilities. This will be followed by an inspirational evening of Bharata Natyam dance offerings in the Temple of Light.

Cost: $600; $100 deposit (See our Cancellation Policy)
Package includes dinner on day of arrival, shared accommodation, three meals daily, morning hatha, workshops and evening satsangs. Optional hatha class and breakfast are included on day of departure.
