  • Pathways to Living and Serving in the Ashram Community – Have you had an introduction to the Ashram and want to learn more about yourself and living in community? We welcome longer term residencies at the Ashram, ranging anywhere from three months to a year, two years and more! In a step-by-step process currently called Pathways, we are happy to encourage you to consider returning to serve and learn, and be supported within the Ashram community. This would follow introductory participation in the One Month Karma Yoga Program, the 10 Day Yoga Journey, Yoga Development Course or a learning residency or being a Yasodhara Yoga teacher. Check here (Pathways for Community Living) for more information – and watch for more about this program as it evolves in the next few months.
  • Media Articles –  Two wonderful articles by Go World Travel Magazine and Active Life who came for a media visit in September highlighted the Ashram as well as our beautiful Kootenay communities.
  • New Temple of Light AwardPatkau Architects have won yet another award for the Temple of Light: The Innovation Award from the 2019 AFBC Architectural Awards. This award recognizes achievements that are not strictly ‘architectural,’ but that have a direct bearing on the future of architecture in areas such as design, building technology, use of materials and sustainability.
  • Taste of the Ashram for Conscious Businesses – We hosted our first Taste for professionals and leaders in the community who do worthwhile work in within the Kootenay region. Acknowledging that it can be challenging to find time to return to centre and realign in a busy work schedule, we offered a free day of a Hatha yoga class, a tour of the Ashram, workshop and networking session. Representatives attended from organizations such as the women’s centre in Creston, North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society in Kaslo and the Nelson Community Food Centre. We were inspired by the work they do and they were equally inspired to share in the day. In 2020, we plan to hold more Professional Tastes to build community and share in self-care and conscious practices so we all may be of better service to others.
