Media Writers Experience the Ashram

In September, three media writers from NUVO Magazine, Seattle Yoga Magazine and Canadian World Traveller, were invited to the Ashram to participate in our Breath: The Invisible Work retreat and visit the East Shore in a unique way thanks to a travel grant from Destination BC/Kootenay Rockies Tourism.

With two artisan shop owners as guides, we hosted them to a gourmet lunch at The Black Salt Cafe followed by a tour of all the diverse Artisans of Crawford Bay. Later, we had an informative walk through our new Regional Park’s wetlands led by biologist Lorna Robin. The weekend also brought them out to another of our culinary wonders in Kootenay Bay, Cabin Restaurant. They all agreed that the area was filled with truly talented people.

The journalists thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Ashram and were overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the place as well as the food offerings. Our kitchen’s homemade ketchup had quite the effect resulting in the recipe going home with one of the writers. The Breath Retreat was well received and as one writer stated, “I loved learning and being part of such a warm and strong community – one that has purpose and helps so many souls.” We look forward to their upcoming articles and to hosting more media in the upcoming year.
