On October
15th, Calgary Radha Centre held an uplifting fundraising
event for the Yasodhara Ashram Divine Mother Temple building fund
at Michele Blance’s place.
Approximately 25 people enjoyed a warmly furnished and
decorated room with inspiring images of all the Divine
Feminine's manifestations. Paintings, posters, drawings
and deities of goddesses adorned the walls and tables,
creating an atmosphere in which Divine Mother's presence
was felt.
An abundance of food filled every inch of the serving table
as we all bought our favorite dish, along with a $20 donation.
With every detail attended to - flowers on the tables and
a feeling of gratitude and celebration - we enjoyed our
meals relating stories of Divine Mother.
We kept the spirit of Divine Mother going with bhajans.
Sue Silverman, Greg, Gerald Blackstock, and Faith Stuart
all helped us fill the atmosphere with light and joy.
We also gave away a host of door prizes including books
from Timeless. The grand prize of the evening, donated
by Michelle was awarded to Heather Good: a beautiful porcelain
statue of Kwan Yin. When asked if she knew in her mind
where she would place Kwan Yin at home, Heather replied, "In
my bedroom. I am going to re-organize and make space for
her."
This potluck was part of a series of events inspired by
the Calgary Radha Centre's fundraising committee. Calgary
Radha Centre hopes to continue to raise money for Ashram
and Radha Centre projects with evenings such as these.
We are encouraging anybody who is interested in hosting
an event to contact us. Email us at yoga@radhacentre.org
