Charting New Directions for Swami Radha's Work
January 27, 2006

This week, people involved with timeless books, ascent magazine and radha yoga & eatery gathered at the ashram for planning meetings and brainstorming sessions. At satsang on the final day of meetings, Swami Sivananda invited everyone involved to talk about their experiences and share what arose from the discussions.

timeless books is emerging from the success of Inspired Lives, with excellent sales, media coverage and launches and workshops across Canada. “We’ve been in our Toronto office for just over a year, and it’s been a very eventful time,” said publisher Andrew Wedman. Swami Durgananda’s memoir In Durga’s Embrace and the 20th anniversary edition of Hatha Yoga: The Hidden Language, which is a complete new edit and re-design, will be released this spring. A new, full-size edition of the The Divine Light Invocation will be published this Fall. timeless’ 2007 releases include Light and Vibration, an unpublished manuscript by Swami Radha, and Ananda Lahari, a sacred text from which the Divine Mother Prayer is excerpted.

Representing ascent magazine were marketing manager Scott W. Gray, editor Sarah Truman, and publisher Louise Quinn. “This has been a year of transitions at the Montreal office,” said Scott. “But the magazine has emerged victorious, winning the Utne Award for best spiritual coverage.” In response to increasing global interest ascent is now adding more web-exclusive editorial content to their website with an emphasis on multi-media presentations.

radha yoga & eatery is celebrating its first year in Vancouver’s downtown eastside—and what a year it’s been! Manager Carolyn Wong listed all the classes, workshops, events and music that have happened at the yoga space and vegetarian restaurant. More activities are scheduled in the upcoming year, as well as efforts to use the centre as a space for social action and foster partnerships with local organizations. “Everyone at radha is inspired by the achievements of ascent and timeless,” said Carolyn. “We’re working towards embodying the spirit of work and the teachings.”

The meetings are an opportunity to acknowledge and build on successes, as well as make plans and set goals for the next few years. Greater collaboration between the Ashram, ascent, timeless and radha yoga & eatery is very much the focus coming out of the meetings. A certain excitement and energy is generated when the different areas of Swami Radha’s work are united in bringing the teachings out to the world.
