YDC 2006 Begins
January 17, 2006

The 37th annual 2006 Yoga Development Course has started. The thirty-five participants drove through blizzards, waited in airports, and endured overnight bus rides to get to the ashram.

At opening night satsang, Swami Radhananda welcomed everyone. “People who take the YDC are seeking something sacred in life,” she said. “You are all revolutionaries who will change the world through Light.”

The participants stood up, introduced themselves, and gave a brief statement about entering the course. They described themselves as ‘grateful,’ ‘excited,’ and simply ‘here.’ Some of them have been involved in these teachings for years, others are brand new; some have been doing karma yoga at the ashram for an extended time, and others are stepping into their first experience in a spiritual community.

“The one thing we can count on is something will change,” said Swami Radhananda. “Take this time to step, fly or jump out of yourself to be who you are.”

For the next three months, the course participants will have the space to explore, reflect on, and transform their lives. The YDC is an intense, focused and practical course offering an introduction to the major branches of yoga and an opportunity for self-development. It presents the foundation of Swami Radha’s teachings, based on the Kundalini system. The YDC is a prerequisite for all teacher training.
