Tubular sky light - energy
savings using natural light in the interior rooms |
The Ashram’s building project—turning
our old barn into a new residence called Goloka—is
taking its next step. Traces of the barn are disappearing
as electricity, windows, lights and skylights appear. “Skylights
make the building more energy efficient,” says
Charles Green, resident in charge. “People
won’t need to turn on lights during the day.”
Outside, young adults are digging trenches and jack hammering
old concrete, transforming an old foundation, an
old structure, into the new residence. “I’m
really inspired by the young men working there and
their level of enthusiasm,” says James Gates,
Ashram resident. “There’s lots to do
and it’s intense - 'real life yoga,' focusing
the mind on what we’re doing. It’s actually
very devotional.”
Over $200,000 is still needed for completion of this
environmentally sustainable project. If you would
like to donate, click here to download a pledge form. Or call
the Ashram at 800-661-8711. Help us transform.
