Articles >Swami Lalitananda sprinkles light on Yoga in Ottawa
May 26th, 2006

Swami Lalitananda filled all the participants in her Ottawa workshops with her quiet brilliance. We’re all sparkling after her 3 Hidden Language workshops. Most of the participants in the workshops were regulars at the Ottawa Radha Yoga Centre, and we were delighted to see several new people, including 3 women from our Yoga for Youth at Risk program, one of whom participated in all three events.

On Friday night 27 participants reflected on “symbols, secrets and metaphors." The several new people entered into the process immediately, and opened to the secrets hiding in their bodies. Participants faced fears, found stability, allowing feelings and insights to rise to the surface.

The Saturday workshop took place in a nearby yoga studio. The 18 participants stretched their minds in discovering what Swami Radha calls the “silent manner of speech” of the asanas. They allowed their cells to listen, gleaning the psychological and spiritual messages coming from their bodies.

Sunday's workshop was Mother's Day. For a full day we “brought yoga to life” and deepened our understanding of ourselves. In the morning, reflecting on our experience in the "Cow Face," we connected with Divine Mother and felt gratitude for our own mothers, whatever the complexities of our relationships. The afternoon was spent with the "Tree," surrendering to the strength and flexibility of our inner tree and exploring the environment it needs to grow. We each had time to work on our own with the beautifully revised Hatha Yoga: the Hidden Language.
