Come and learn the skills you need for your life path and be part of a flourishing spiritual community. Learning Residents are an integral part of the Ashram, supporting the day to day work while learning yogic tools to help unlock a greater knowledge of yourself and understanding of others.
Learning Residencies are not for the faint of heart. They are intense immersions that will test you both inside and out. In classes and daily work with the community you will have the opportunity to deepen your personal spiritual practice and build a foundation for the next phase of your life.
These Residencies are for people who have a skill base and/or experience that lends itself to a particular area of the Ashram (please see current openings). During your residency you will spend approximately 75% of your time in your residency area, and the other 25% will be part of the general work schedule of the Ashram as needed.
The program is based on experiential and self-led learning within a guided mentorship. This is a unique opportunity to deepen your skill-set at the same time as you offer service and expand your own self-understanding. Learning Residents participate in Karma Yoga 5.5 days a week and receive the support of an Ashram liaison person in addition to your area mentor. Orientation month, weekly classes, daily reflection, morning yoga classes and evening satsangs enrich the program.
A residency will provide the opportunity to explore and practice:
- practical skills and knowledge related to that area
- leadership skills
- organizational tools and people skills such as
- time management
- planning and facilitation
- coordination and communication
- sustaining harmonious work/service environment
Our learning residencies are a blend of spiritual and career/life development opportunities. Learning Residents receive meals and accommodations for the length of their stay, a value of $1200 per month. A modest stipend is also available to cover incidentals.
Length of Stay
Learning Residencies vary from 4 – 12 months. All residencies have a one-month trial period.
Applications for summer season positions (April 4, May 2, May 30 intake dates) are due on March 31, 2017. Applications for all other intake dates will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
