The Silver Jubilee at the Ashram is a celebration of Swami Radha's 25 years of sanyas and is widely attended.



The 1980s is a time of writing and publishing as well as teaching and opening centres. In the early part of the decade, Swami Radha publishes her diaries from India - Radha: Diary of a Woman's Search and In the Company of the Wise, as well as an instruction book on Mantras - Mantras: Words of Power.



Swami Radha returns to the Sivananda Ashram on her third trip to India. She also speaks about women in spiritual life at the Transpersonal Psychology Conference in Bombay.

       


She meets with a number of leading yoga teachers, including BKS Iyengar.

Children and families are welcome at the Ashram. In the '80s the children's program is well-attended.


 


The first "Shambhala House" (later called Radha Yoga Centres) opens in Calgary, Alberta - the beginning of the many "centres of light" her guru asks her to start.

 

The Radha Yoga Centre in Ottawa, Ontario opens.





A Radha Yoga Centre opens in Victoria, BC.

Hatha Yoga: The Hidden Language is published. Swami Sivananda had challenged Swami Radha to find the mystical meanings of the asanas.

 

The first Teacher Training course begins.
