Recently we asked our guests, course participants and Karma Yogis to tell us why they donate to the Ashram. Here are a few of their responses:

Each person has a unique connection to Yasodhara Ashram, a story of why they come, a story of why they extend their stay, why they share their experience with friends and family, and why they want to give back.

Fifty years ago Swami Radha laid the foundation for our enduring and vibrant spiritual community. Today our commitment is to instill quality, care and awareness in all that we do so that Yasodhara Ashram can truly be a spiritual home to all.

From the food grown on our own land, to our energy conservation efforts, to the upkeep of our residences and grounds, we tend to the behind-the-scenes requirements of a small community. Our goal is to support each person at the Ashram in experiencing, as one guest says, “a safe place for deep, profound healing like no other place in the world.”

We search for innovative and efficient methods of operating so that we can keep our course and program fees affordable and available to all. And in some cases, we provide financial assistance to those with limited resources. But fees fund only a portion of our annual budget.

To continue to create a sustainable community for future generations – to maintain this enduring and evolving centre of Light – we rely on the generosity of our donors to make ends meet.

]]> b-blastThis year to help celebrate our 50th Anniversary we have introduced a monthly Bhajan Blast. By live-streaming this musical event presented by our own “Elastic Band” and resident dancers, we invite you right into the Radha Room to join us.

Bhajans are devotional songs expressing love for the Divine. The Sanskrit word, bhajan, derives from bhakti, meaning the path of the heart. And a “blast” is a fun, enthusiastic gathering as well as a powerful electronic communication!

We also offer a sacred dance, keeping alive the tradition so cherished by Swami Radha.

Join us for Bhajan Blast 5 on Sunday, May 26, 7 – 8 pm Pacific

The dance offering on the 26th will be the Mandala Dance, choreographed by Shymali. View the live streaming of the event and help us generate positive vibrations by joining us in lively song and devotional dance!

Internships are available on our Food Flow, Kitchen, and Infrastructure Teams, with specializations in organic gardening, food processing and preserving, food preparation, orchard management, local food procurement, building project coordination and management of our repair and maintenance shop.

Internships at Yasodhara Ashram are a unique opportunity to deepen your skill-sets at the same time as you offer service and expand your own self-understanding. This new program is open to all ages.

Founded on the principle of service, the Ashram is a living example of a generosity-based community. We are a carbon neutral organization and use sustainable/green practices.

]]> swami-radha-signatureWhen a small group of us began planning the 2013 course program, we recognized how far ahead of her time Swami Radha really was. She had taken intuitive leaps in bridging the Eastern teachings to the West, understanding that for yoga to be effective it had to speak to our culture and our times. She integrated the best of Western psychology with classical yoga practices to create a foundation for self-development. Her workshops lead us to understand our own symbolism and to awaken our intelligence.

So instead of creating new courses for the Ashram’s 50th Anniversary, we were inspired to create new combinations of those original courses that have proven effective for decades. The 50th Anniversary Signature Courses are a great introduction for people new to the Ashram and they are equally relevant for experienced teachers. Each course allows you to experience for yourself Swami Radha’s unique genius. You can choose from a range of Signature Courses that focus on the body, devotion, self-development or symbolism.
