Help Finish the Temple – Update

Thank you to those who have sent in donations to the Help Finish the Temple campaign. There is an excited buzz at the Ashram as each day we post donor messages and track gifts on a thermometer in the atrium. So far, we’ve raised $54,450 thanks to many generous donors. But, we still have a ways to go to reach our goal of raising $200,000 by June 30th.

With only one week left until the campaign ends, now is the perfect time to show your support. Max Wong, a Learning Resident in the Garden, shares why the world needs the symbol of the Temple. He reflects on how he is putting his beliefs into action by asking for donations from his friends and family.

Here’s an excerpt:

“The Temple is a symbol for me of where things need to go in this world. All religions need to be accepted. All religions need to be honoured. The Temple is a huge symbol for that. I get the sense of that when people come here and they see this place. Everyone feels welcome. Symbols like that are unusual in a world that seems to be less global and a little bit more divisive these days. I think it’s really important that this symbol stands strong for everybody. It’s a symbol of unity. I can’t think of too many other symbols of unity that I have such a direct connection with that I strongly feel need to come to fruition.”

Help us reach our goal of raising $200,000 by June 30th, 2017. Please consider making a donation today and joining many others who are helping to finish this sacred space.
