Technical Support – Karma Yoga Resident

it-residentExperience living and working in a vibrant yoga community, located on beautiful Kootenay Lake in the mountains and forests of southeastern British Columbia. As the IT Resident, you will be responsible for responding to day-to-day support requests and supporting & maintaining the Ashram’s IT infrastructure.

Karma Yoga is the practice of selfless service, and is an essential part of life here at Yasodhara. While part of the community, you will learn about yourself, your values, your approach to service. Daily hatha classes and satsangs as well as weekly reflection classes are some of the benefits of participating in the karma yoga practised at Yasodhara Ashram. Monthly stipend to help with expenses is an option. Dates somewhat flexible and extension is possible.

Description:

  • Respond in a timely and professional manner to the support needs for computer hardware and software, email, printers, AV equipment, phone system, servers and network.
  • Manage and maintain computer hardware and software, email, printers, AV equipment, servers, phone systems, and network.

Qualifications:

  • Strong skills in troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work with different systems and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience with OS X and iOS devices using Mac apps (eg. Calendar, Mail), as well as Microsoft Office
  • Experience using, updating and managing WordPress websites
  • Familiarity with working with Windows and OS X servers
  • Familiarity with managing web servers hosting WordPress sites
  • Optional: Experience with other apps we use would be considered an asset – AccountEdge, ResortSuite, Google for Non-Profits (Ad Words and Apps), Final Cut Pro, audio visual equipment, Linux

Position starts in December 2016 and runs to June 2017. Time away for the holidays is an option. For the right candidate, start date is flexible.
